Rick Smith
Rick Smith
Owner and proud tutor at Squamish Tutoring! With a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and MEd in Education, Rick has been teaching something for most of his life. He still enjoys working with teens, especially through tutoring Math 10, 11, and 12.
Kate
Kate starts her eighth year with Squamish Tutoring! Kate raised her family in Squamish, and has recently retired from Squamish Library. The library community misses her, but we have gained a great support, full time, for our students. Kate has become our "expert" at tutoring Math 9 and 10, and recently added Math 11!
Ben
Ben has re-joined our tutoring team after returning to Squamish to work for a couple of years. With an Engineering Degree, and expertise in Maths and Sciences, Ben is happy helping tutor Physics 11 and 12, along with some Math. We are delighted to have Ben return!
Tom Mac
Tom joins us this year, after a stint with the local school district in their International Student Program. Tom, a Squamish local, graduated HSS before completing his degree in Sciences. He has experience tutoring alongside his family's tutoring operation, and is now happy to join us more permanently tutoring Math especially, but also offering help in Sciences and English.
Uthpala
We are fortunate to welcome Uthpala back, now in her third year with us. Uthpala brings experience from teaching Math in Sri Lanka to work with our junior level students, Grades 7, 8, 9. She is excited to be back again, and we are happy to have her as she balances several different interests in her career life!
Pauline
Pauline joined us last year, and quickly became a favourite among the Math 7/8/9 group. After a degree in Sciences, and then raising her own family in Squamish, she realized that she could help more students than just her own two! This transition from full time Mom to part time tutor has been very successful and we are delighted to have Pauline back this year!
Loraine
Loraine joined our team three years ago, with an Engineering background from her home country of Chile. She took some time off last year, but now finds time to tutor Physics along with working full time as an engineer and raising her first child. She especially loves helping students with "real" applications in Physics 11 and 12.
Anu
We were fortunate to welcome Anu last year as she and family re-located to Squamish. Anu is currently working in the local school system with younger students. However, from her background heading a University Chemistry department, she loves helping students make sense of the complexities of Chemistry 11 and 12.
Cathy

Tom B
Tom joins us this year after shifting his home full time to Squamish. Tom has a degree in the Sciences, and has been tutoring for the past few years with another tutoring operation. His main specialty is Math 12 and Calculus, along with climbing of course. We are very pleased to welcome Tom to Squamish Tutoring!
We are fortunate to keep Cathy on staff for another year. After moving to Squamish 6 years ago with her husband, Cathy has to balance many demands - part time work for UBC, consulting, family, and of course a life of activity in Squamish. Cathy loves to tutor Chemistry, but also excels in working with Math 10 and 11.
Watch for yet another new tutor joining us after Christmas 2025!
